The Elephant Sessions

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May 2017

Organisers of Isle of Man Cyclefest presented by Isle of Man Bank are delighted to have secured one of Scotland’s most sought after live acts. Winners of the “Up and Coming Act of the Year” at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2014, The Elephant Sessions are a Neo-Trad quintet that combine their ceilidh-esque sound with undertones of ska, rock and funk.

Already renowned for their energetic and engaging live shows, 2014 saw the band climb to new heights with the release of their debut album: The Elusive Highland Beauty. Showcasing the band’s progressive blend of intricate melodies, engulfing guitars, monsterous funky bass and infectious drum grooves, it is a hugely impressive debut that was met with a wave of critical acclaim.

Whilst the album certainly elevated the group to the status of established artists, a string of festival dates has earned them a deserving reputation as a brilliant live act – a reputation that took them to the biggest festival of them all, sharing a stage at Glastonbury with Newton Faulkner and KT Tunstall.

Fans of The Elephant Sessions, for which there are now many, can look forward to a new record in the spring. Indeed, the band is already trailing several new tunes as they take their distinctive sound around the UK and beyond.

The five university friends, meanwhile, can look forward to returning to the beauty of the Highlands, playing to 10,000 partygoers at Hogmanay in Inverness! And 2017 surely promises even bigger things for the band with a string of festival dates up and down the country – starting with a much-anticipated headline show at Celtic Connections.

We are naturally delighted to have The Elephant Sessions visit Isle of Man Cyclefest this May and visitors to Milntown can look forward to catching this unique group on either day at the PokerStars Main Stage. It’s going to be bouncing!

Festival wristbands are available now from the shop with deliveries for Christmas on all orders received by Monday 19th December.
